Edmund A. Matthews, 89, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.

Edmund was born to Cronin and Mable on January 25, 1926 in George Town, Guyana. He attended St. Georges School and St Georges Cathedral where he became an Acolyte. Edmund was a member of the Royal Palm Masonic Lodge # 512 F. & A. M. in Ft. Myers, Florida and St. James Episcopal Church in Port Charlotte and Director of the Acolyte Program at the church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Dr. Lena Delisser-Matthews; his son, Byron Matthews; several cousins, nieces and nephew and several grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 10:00AM-11:00AM with a service to follow at 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church, 1365 Viscaya Drive Port Charlotte, FL 33952. Inurnment will be held at a later date by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church Acolytes, 1365 Viscaya Drive Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel.
