Tribute & Message From The Family

Richard Edward Murray, Jr., 56, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Friday, May 8, 2015 in Punta Gorda as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Richard was born Sept. 18, 1958 in Springfield, Massachusetts and moved to Florida in 1978.Though disable and retired from a work related injury, mere earthly forces could not deter him from the road. He loved motorcycles. He loved the unparalled freedom of riding, the expressiveness of jazz music and the freewheeling sounds of classic rock. He was a chef, an avid pursuer of zest and flavor in food and life. A puzzle master, movie buff, a dry wit humorist with an appreciation for low budget horror films and high class meals. He was a friend, father, husband and rebel.

Survived by his loving family, wife, Cindy L. Murray of Port Charlotte; two daughters, Jennifer L. Murray of Port Charlotte and Rebecca E. Murray of Bethel, CT; four sisters, Patty Mason, Debbie Clark and Colleen Buckley, all of North Port, FL and Sandy Murray of Port Charlotte; his mother, Gail Murray of Port Charlotte; and his father Richard E. Murray, Sr. of Monterey, CA.

Beckah & the Murray Family:

There are times in which we must grieve for the loss of someone so dear to us that we will never fully recover. These emotional scars stay with us for the rest of our lives, and we remember that pain forever. Nobody will ever hold you, carry you, or love you as your father did.

As you grieve, however, you will be surrounded by people who love you, who care for you, and will hold you whenever you may need it. You are a shining light in the darkness we all battle, and we appreciate your spirit and strength as we all make this journey together, and we will support and love you as you support and love us. Thank you for being who you are, and for bringing that spirit to our lives.
