Abraham Emmanuel Laird, 82, of Port Charlotte, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas day, December 25, 2014.

Abraham Emmanuel Laird was born on October 17, 1932, in the parish of St. Mary, Jamaica. Bro. Laird was the first born of Ethel Laird and Pastor Lawrence Laird. Abraham, known to many as Fredrick and Freddy, grew up in Kingston and attended St. Andrews Technical School, were he pursued a career in electrical engineering. Bro. Laird's first job (1951-1957) was with R.A.Silvera Electrical Company, followed by (1957- 1958) Kaiser Baxite Company (Alpart Company). From 1968 - 1970 he worked for local 3 Electrical Union. In 1970, he started working with Long Island Railroad and retired in 1990. Bro. Laird migrated to the United States in 1968. In 1983, Bro. Laird met and married Sister Laird. Since then they have been happily married for 31years. After retirement, Bro. Laird moved to Port Charlotte, Florida where he was a faithful member of Port Charlotte New Testament Church of God.

Cherishing his memory are his wife Elfreda (Urie) Laird, Children: Devon Laird, Elaine, Paulette Laird, Norman Laird, Charlene, Cordell Laird, Verligia Daniell and Brian Laird; 17 Grandchildren, 13 Great-grand; Nieces, Nephew and his younger brother Winston R Laird. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Wright.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. this Friday, January 2, 2015 at Roberson Funeral Homes Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, at Port Charlotte New Testament Church of God, committal and entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte.
