Frederick Charles Delaney, 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, FL.
Fred moved to Port Charlotte in 1995 from New Hartford, CT. He was the son of William and Marghueritte Robsham Delaney. Fred was employed by the Metropolitan District Commission in Hartford, CT. in Barkhamsted for 50 years. He was a former Boy Scout leader, a member of the Port Charlotte Elks and Knights of Columbus Council # 11483. He was an avid camper and belonged to the Calusa Campers. He was an active member and communicates of St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Fred was an amazing and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a loyal friend to all who loved and knew him.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Fannie Coan Delaney; his son, Gregory (Carrie) Delaney of Winsted, CT; a daughter, Mary Delaney Cuozzo of Meriden, CT; a brother, David (Lucille) Delaney of Barkhamsted, CT; 7 grandchildren, James Neshko, Jared, Jacqueline, Jordan Delaney, Jennifer, Jacob and Adriana Chamberlain; and 2 great-grandchildren, Levi Delaney and Heru Dihaan and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Karen, 5 sisters, Eleanor Embros, Helena Langevin, Marjorie Driscoll, Joan Casciani and Catherine Cardillo; and 5 brothers, Paul, Vincent, William, Richard and Robert Delaney.
