Gabriella Suzanne Mackey, 73, of Punta Gorda, FL and long-time resident of Teaneck, NJ died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at home. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda.

Gaby was born June 6, 1938 in Budapest, Hungary. She received a B.S. from Boston College and Master's from Georgetown University. She worked in pharmaceutical research before teaching advanced high school chemistry for 25 years. She was an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul A. Mackey of Punta Gorda; son, Kim (Meghan) Mackey, M.D. of Middleton, WI; daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Carlson of Broomfield, CO; 4 step-children, Debra Ober, Wendy Kydd, Paul S. Mackey, Carol Mackey-Jones and 12 grandchildren. Gaby will be strongly remembered, and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday, February 17, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Home, Punta Gorda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Punta Gorda.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
