Richard J. (Dick) Carrier, 68, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Miami, Florida, died Friday, June 04, 2010 at his Punta Gorda residence.
Born August 31, 1941 in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Eugene and Jeanne (nee - Dion) Carrier, Richard, a survivor of the 1944 Circus fire in Hartford, moved from his native Connecticut to Miami in 1989, relocating to Punta Gorda in 2001. A manager for Dufry America of Miami, he was a past board member of the Hartford School Board, Past President of Rolls Landing Condo Community, and member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2763 of Deep Creek in Port Charlotte, Florida. Richard enjoyed spending his days writing children's books and creating posters for charitable fundraising, and fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah R. Carrier; three children; daughters Denise (Mikaele) Anamani of Ellington, CT, and Donna (David) Brice of Manchester, CT; and son, Paul (Sheila) Carrier of Simsbury, CT; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Caitlin, Nolan, Elise, Thomas, Johnnie, and Justin; father-in-law, William Mohr; mother-in-law, Georgie LaFranchise; one brother, Thomas Carrier; three sisters, Joann Carrier, Christine Carrano, and Debra Bramucci; and many nieces and nephews.
